“Love needs an upgrade”, says Kim Sanders, sitting barefoot on the floor of her apartment, between sips of tea and bites of delicious homemade brownies. “Love is about action and connection and it always is a work in progress. Singing is my God-particle. I love being on stage, and I want to wake up every morning and do this. And I think you can experience that same intensity on a romantic level, by being ready to do the work and most of all, by living the truth.” Then she stops and looks at you, says “Was I preaching again?”, and starts to laugh so hard, the walls begin to shake Jericho-style. “I started telling the truth several years ago”, when her laughter has finally dwindled to the sweetest of smiles, “but you’ve got to be careful, what truth you tell. It has to do with a mirrored perspective. You have to cut off those outside influences and go beyond your instincts. We go through so many unnecessary phases until we find out who we are and what we really want – You just don’t fall in love and then that’s it… it takes as much effort to keep it. So love and keep on loving.”
